Colby Parish

Internetworking Engineer

Summary

Professionally, I am a network infrastructure engineer with >10 years of experience in telecommunication environments. Primarily, my technical experience is with remotely administrating, troubleshooting, and configuring proprietary network systems, like Cisco systems and Juniper systems, within core/distribution/access networks. Secondarily, I've experience with utilising GNU/Linux servers (mostly Debian-based) at an operator level to install and manage services like Netbox, Ansible, and automation scripts.

I make this stuff work.

While being focused on the operational side of computing (opposed to the scientific side), I am incrementally self-teaching some automation and programability languages/tools, namely Ansible at the moment. Python and Shell scripting are naturally interlaced with my work, so they're a work in progress presently. I know enough about writing in LaTeX, a markup language for compiling PDFs, to write a résumé. I guess, too, you could say I "know" HTML/CSS as markup languages, given this website's existence; I know enough to make a basic website. :)

Credentials

CCNP Enterprise

Formally, alongside a college diploma in IT Desktop Support, I have held the following certifications:

Here is my credly.com page, to see all of my certifications at once.

Experience

I've held roles in various sectors of IP network ecosystems, such as customer care, to network operations, to network administration, then to network engineering. Naturally, I've been exposed to several technologies and have become comfortably proficient in them. Below are some noteworthy technologies I've experience with:

Technology Experience

Operating System Experience

With all of that said, I'm still self-training administration & automation for various systems; aiming to broaden myself. I enjoy what I do, so I foresee this field continuing to be my professional future. I've spent a lot of time creating networks in my own personal & friendly spaces, and I've learned a lot from doing so. It's helped shape how I approach my personal computing and privacy.
